The Board of Directors of Baykar Piaggio Aerospace S.p.A. has appointed Giovanni Tomassini as Chief Executive Officer. Tomassini had been serving as Chief Operating Officer of the newly established company, which now incorporates the operations of Piaggio Aero and Piaggio Aviation following their transfer from extraordinary administration.
Born in 1964, Tomassini holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Politecnico University of Milan. He joined Piaggio Aerospace in 2009, following previous roles at Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali and Aermacchi, where he was Production Manager.
“Giovanni’s appointment represents a choice of continuity and trust in the competences of the current management,” said Haluk Bayraktar, CEO of Baykar and Chairman of the Board of Baykar Piaggio Aerospace. “After the years of extraordinary administration, the company can now restart with a new industrial vision, capable of combining the legacy of Piaggio Aerospace with the innovation and expertise of Baykar. Giovanni’s experience will be crucial in making this path concrete and leading the company into a new phase of industrial development and international growth.”
Baykar Piaggio Aerospace is involved in the design, production, and maintenance of aircraft, engines, and aerostructures. Originally founded in Genoa in 1884, Piaggio Aerospace is known for its work in executive turboprop aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, and special mission platforms. The company’s operations are based in Villanova d'Albenga, Italy, with a customer service unit in Genoa. In July 2025, it became part of the Baykar Group.
