Growing Interest in Roketsan’s KHAN Missile

Roketsan of Turkey, which is exhibiting its products at the ongoing Indo Defence is also looking for export wins for its KHAN artillery missile. Designed and produced by Roketsan, the surface-to-surface missile is able to provide mass fire power on high payoff targets within the area of influence of the army. The KHAN artillery missile entered the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) in 2014. According to Roketsan, the KHAN missile has gained a reputation for its range, firing precision and effectiveness. According to company officials, the missile can provide sustained and effective firepower and is a 24/7 “ready to fire” system that can be used in any weather or on any terrain. Roketsan the KHAN missile’s Circular Error Probability (CEP) at less than 10m.

The missile is able to hit targets accurately with its inertial guidance system or its GNSS supported inertial guidance system. The missile allows armed forces to undertake long-range precision strikes against a number of targets, including artillery and air defence systems, radar sites, assembly areas, logistic facilities, C2 facilities and other high priority targets.

The missile features a composite sold propellant and engage targets out to ranges of 80-280 km. The missile warhead weight is 470 kg and it has a point detonating and proximity fuse. A KHAN missile is 610 mm in diameter and weighs 2,500 kg.

According to company officials, the missile can be launched from the KHAN Weapon System and the Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) produced by Roketsan. The company can also integrate the missile into the other tactical wheeled vehicle platforms with integration-compatible interfaces.

Combat proven and ready to fire in a short time, KHAN, which “is reassuring for allies and spreads fear among enemies,” is equipped with anti-jamming and anti-spoofing solutions. Designed for 24/7 all-weather/terrain usage, the missile ensures low collateral damage because of its high accuracy.
