Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, today announced that its new Gulfstream G800, the world’s longest-range business jet, has earned type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The aircraft’s performance surpasses initial expectations, with improved capabilities now confirmed.
The G800’s certifications confirm its remarkable range, with the aircraft capable of flying 8,200 nautical miles (15,186 kilometers) at a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85—an increase of 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) over initial projections. The G800 can also cover 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 kilometers) at its high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, or 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 kilometers) at Mach 0.87. The aircraft’s maximum operating speed has also been increased to Mach 0.935, up from Mach 0.925.
In addition, the G800 has achieved a balanced field length takeoff distance of 5,812 feet (1,771 meters) and a landing distance of 3,105 feet (946 meters) under standard conditions, both of which are shorter than previously announced, enabling access to more airports.
Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream, commented, “With the certification of the G800, Gulfstream continues to exceed expectations, thanks to the dedication and expertise of our flight test, certification, and manufacturing teams. The G800 represents the latest evolution of business aviation, offering unmatched performance and efficiency. With these enhancements, Gulfstream customers will enjoy increased flexibility and range.”
The G800 features a cabin designed for ultimate comfort, including the lowest cabin altitude in the industry at 2,840 feet (866 meters) when cruising at 41,000 feet (12,497 meters), shared with the Gulfstream G700. The cabin includes 100% fresh air, a plasma ionization air purification system, and 16 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows. It can be configured with up to four living areas or three living areas with a dedicated crew compartment.
The aircraft’s impressive range, speed, and fuel efficiency are powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, along with Gulfstream’s innovative aerodynamic wing and winglet design.
“Gulfstream continues to push the boundaries of possibility, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer commitment,” said Burns. “We are ready for a seamless entry into service as we begin U.S. and European deliveries.”
