Bulgarian company Hades Defense Systems, which is among the firms from the country that is showcasing capabilities at the ongoing show, is showcasing two new products – passive RF sensor, and the Sea Eagle coastal observation system.
The passive RF sensor, which has a detection range of 5-8 km, is an electronic support sensor for RF detection, UAV SIGINT, and counter-UAS operations. “Unlike a radar that is constantly emitting signals, there is no signal emission when it comes to the passive RF sensor,” says Georgio Markov, sales and marketing manager. “It is only listening for signals, specifically the frequencies used to control drones. This comes with the complete library of most drones and protocols. It can be used in civilian areas where having a radar may be tricky. It can be used by the military, but most of the interest we have seen for the product is for critical infrastructure defence.”
“Everything that you see here is designed and produced by our team in Bulgaria,” says Markov. “The company has three main areas or interest, drones, counter drone measures, rocket systems. Because the market here is interested in traditional rocket systems and radars, we are showcasing our multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) and new radars.”
The Sea Eagle coastal observation system, which has a maximum detection range of 90 km, is the latest member of the Eagle Radar family. It is designed for maritime threat detection and coastal surveillance. The family also includes the Eagle for compact tactical detection, and the Eagle + for extended surveillance and C-UAS operations. “While the Sea Eagle is primarily for early warning and surveillance, it can spot flying threats such as drones as well,” says Markov.
The Hawk is a lightweight and portable counter-UAS radar that can detect and track low-flying, slow-moving and small aerial targets such as FPV drones, loitering munitions, and micro-UAVs. “The Hawk is also a targeting radar and has a rocket-based elimination system that is unique to our company. The Hawk and the Passive RF sensor can be combined in a more layered detection network.”
