HAECO Xiamen broke ground on a new aircraft maintenance facility in Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport on Jan. 8. Once the construction is complete, the facility will be the largest single span aircraft maintenance hangar in the world.
Established in 1993, HAECO Xiamen’s comprehensive suite of aircraft engineering services includes airframe services, line services, parts manufacturing, design engineering, certification, and technical training. Currently based in Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, the MRO will relocate to the new airport to build a new industry-leading hangar.
Covering a total area of 537,300 sqm, including a construction area of 292,300 sqm and an apron area of 284,000 sqm, 18 new buildings will be constructed to cater to apron engineering, engine test bays, utility tunnel, aviation fuel supply and other outdoor works. There will be 12 wide-body and six narrow-body maintenance bays as well as two separate painting bays to provide flexible parking for multiple aircraft types and different maintenance needs.
