Havelsan, which showcased a diverse range of products and solutions at SAHA Expo 2024 and signed multiple strategic agreements, is committed not only to addressing Türkiye’s unique needs but also to developing export-ready solutions for the international market, CEO Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar has said.
"At Havelsan, we approached SAHA Expo not just as an opportunity to display our current projects but as a place to create new technology-based success stories in Türkiye’s defence industry, " Dr. Nacar said in his closing speech. "This year’s event has given us a tremendous boost to leverage our capabilities further with the insights from our customers and share our innovative solutions both locally and globally."
At the event, Havelsan showcased a diverse range of products and solutions, including its command and control technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous solutions, and digital troops technologies. It also signed multiple strategic agreements, focusing on areas such as UAVs, UGVs, artificial intelligence, command and control systems, simulation and training solutions and cybersecurity. The company also hosted almost 60 foreign delegations from 34 different countries across the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Europe and Africa, reiterating its commitment to strengthening its position as a reliable solution provider in the global defence industry.
Havelsan, which holds a prominent place in Türkiye’s defence industry as an established software and technology provider, particpated in the fair with the twin objectives of presenting its cutting-edge technologies and demonstrating the advancements of the Turkish defence industry, the CEO said. The fair has once again proved to be an effective platform for showcasing the strength of Türkiye's defence industry and its growing presence on the international arena. The event stresses the country's independent production power in defence and aerospace, besides giving domestic companies an opportunity to closely follow industry developments, evaluate new partnership opportunities, and establish long lasting strategic connections, he added.
At the event, Havelsan was able to once again demonstrate its strategic importance, Dr. Nacar said. "Since Havelsan offers deep technological developments across every corner of the defence industry, it (SAHA Exoo) has confirmed once again that Havelsan provides holistic defense solutions. Our expertise in software and systems engineering allows us to contribute significantly to Türkiye’s independent defense capabilities while prioritising national and international collaborations on a win-win basis."
Key Technologies Showcased
The ADVENT Combat Management System received plenty of attention at SAHA Expo 2024. "Currently deployed on over 50 platforms in the Turkish Navy and exported to 7 countries, ADVENT supports Türkiye’s naval defence with real-time decision-making through network enabled data integration capabilities. This technology exemplifies our decisive role in contributing to the digitalizing naval combat operations and providing a strategic edge in naval domain," Dr. Nacar said.
"Another standout solution of Havelsan is Air Force Information System (TICCS), developed specifically for the Turkish Air Force. TICCS is among the most advanced command and control systems in the world, offering strategic superiority by accelerating decision-making in air operations. It has contributed significantly to superiority of Türkiye’s air command technology capabilities," the company CEO added.
Digital Troops and Autonomous Systems
Dr. Nacar also spoke about the company's Digital Troops solutions. "At Havelsan, we synchronize autonomous land, air, and sea vehicles through swarm algorithms, deploying systems like BAHA, BARKAN, and SANCAR to enhance field operations. One of the highlights at SAHA EXPO has been the first introduction of the CENGAVER-ASGER-Digital Troops concept. CENGAVER is an advanced digital soldier solution capable of monitoring health, location, and activity data of military personnel in real-time. It enables better decision-making by providing instant information on each soldier’s status in the field. Our ASGER Mixed Reality Solution brings augmented reality and artificial intelligence technologies into field operations, helping troops make faster and more accurate tactical decisions."
Strategic Agreements
Commentying on the strategic agreements signed by the company at the event, Dr. Nacar said. "These partnerships will allow us to expand and deepen our projects and reach new markets, advancing Türkiye's defence industry's export goals. A few examples of the agreements signed at the event are collaborations with Calidus Aerospace for the B-250 MPDS & GBTS systems, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM for the MİLGEM 6-12 Ship Project Message Processing System, and Selangor Aviation of Malaysia. We also signed a production agreement with the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) for the Barkan Unmanned Ground Vehicle."
Company's Vision
"Our objective is not only to address today’s defence needs but also to develop the technologies that will shape tomorrow’s defence landscape," said Dr. Nacar. "With our advanced technologies in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and digital troops, we are continuously working to support Türkiye’s defence priorities and position in the global defense arena. Looking ahead, we aim to build on our success at SAHA Expo by solidifying our presence in international markets and driving further export growth. Our recent agreements, particularly the global use of systems like ADVENT, are significant milestones... Our commitment to innovation and excellence is shaping the future of defence technology."
