Turkish defence company HAVELSAN will unveil the BARKAN 3 medium unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at the upcoming SAHA EXPO 2026.
Compared to earlier variants. BARKAN 3 is expected to offer more in terms of capabilities. Greater payload capacity, improved mobility, longer endurance, and broader mission modularity make the latest variant an attractive proposition for potential customers.
While BARKAN 1 weighs 400 kg, BARKAN 2 is larger and heavier at 750 kg empty weight. It can also operate for five hours, compared to three hours for BARKAN 1. There is a difference in payload capacity as well, with BARKAN 2 able to carry 400 kg, compared to 200 kg for the first variant.
According to the company, the BARKAN UGV serves as a vital assistant for field personnel, enhancing operational success while preventing losses and reducing operational costs. The UGV, which can perform efficiently even in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions, offers multi-role capabilities necessary for a wide spectrum of assignments, including tactical overwatch, medical evacuation, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) detection.
Equipped with remote control and autonomous mission capabilities, BARKAN’s swarm infrastructure allows for joint operations with other land and air vehicles from a centralized command, thus enhancing collaborative efforts. The UGV family’s modular design accommodates various payloads, making it versatile for multi-purpose UGV missions such as armed ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), close protection, and armed reconnaissance.
