German sensor solutions provider, Hensoldt has won a Bundeswehr tender for supply of 368 IRV 900 A2 infrared attachments. The order also contains an option for an additional 34 attachments.
The uncooled infrared attachment is noiseless and ready for use within 5 seconds.
The thermal imaging devices are being procured for dismounted use at medium ranges.
The IRV 900 A2 can be used on assault rifles, light and medium machine guns, multi-purpose machine guns and designated marksmen rifles. Another intended use for the IRV 900 A2 is as a fire control sight on the shoulder launched multi-purpose weapon RGW 90 LRMP.
The IRV 900 A2 is a modified version of the IRV 900 A1 infrared attachment and can be used either as a clip-on system with 1x magnification or as a stand-alone target lens with digital zoom.
A colour monitor allows for easier target reconnaissance with false colour display.
