At the ongoing DSEI 2025 in London, sensor solutions provider Hensoldt unveiled its TAROSS solution, an electro-optical sensor system for target acquisition and reconnaissance.
TAROSS is a modular, scalable sensor box designed for use on remote weapon stations, medium-calibre turrets, light reconnaissance vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles. The system offers a direct interface to Hensoldt's Ceretron and can be easily integrated into existing or future vehicle and weapon systems.
Reconnaissance, precise target acquisition and engagement are key elements of any military operation. They include both reconnaissance of the terrain and gathering information deep within enemy territory. To minimise the risk to troops, TAROSS offers the option of conducting these operations from a safe distance.
"Our troops must be equipped with reliable, mission-proven and battle-tested capabilities in the areas of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR)," says Josef Reif, Product Manager for the TAROSS system family. The modular optronic target acquisition and reconnaissance system TAROSS was developed precisely for this purpose and combines Hensoldt's typical high optical performance with the software-defined defence approach for forward-looking technologies.
TAROSS is modular and can be equipped with a variety of customised sensor sets. It is also available with a fully stabilised pan-tilt unit (PTU) as well as cooled and uncooled thermal imaging cameras.
