Hensoldt Unveils DL-6000 Data Link

Hensoldt has introduced the DL-6000, its latest data link system, at IDEX 2025. The sixth-generation solution facilitates secure, long-range, line-of-sight transmission of high-definition video and telemetry data across multiple platforms.

The DL-6000 is an IP-based communications system designed to transmit secure video and telemetry data from unmanned and rotary-wing aircraft to ground-based command centres. It supports networking multiple radios, enabling distributed control of payloads and platforms as well as display capabilities.

“In modern defence and communications systems, the interconnection between technologies determines the real tactical and strategic advantage. The DL-6000 serves as the critical backbone that seamlessly connects sensors, platforms and operators, ensuring real-time data exchange for mission success," says Marcus Reuter, Key Accounts Manager of the Hensoldt South Africa’s Radar business unit.

The system is based on software-defined radio (SDR) technology and incorporates a system-on-module (SOM) architecture, allowing adaptability to evolving operational requirements. It maintains compatibility with Hensoldt’s earlier DL-5000 series.

Designed for reliability and ease of use, the DL-6000 aims to enhance operational effectiveness while managing long-term sustainability. It incorporates anti-jamming measures using spread-spectrum technology to reduce the likelihood of detection and interference in electronic warfare environments.

The airborne terminal maintains a stable data rate regardless of range, with low latency for rapid and accurate data transmission. The system is compliant with the STANAG-4586 standard and is designed for integration into both manned and unmanned platforms, featuring a compact form and multiple data and video interfaces.

Hensoldt has also highlighted its capability to support localisation efforts. Reuter noted: “We realise the strategic significance of localisation initiatives and therefore can work closely with partners to position DL-6000 to benefit in local capabilities.”
