In yet another sign of growing defence ties between the two countries, Türkiye and Azerbaijan have signed a contract g day of the ongoing event for the supply of 14 TUSAŞ-made Hürkuş-II trainer aircraft.
The procurement deal was signed during ADEX2026 between the company and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry. The contract is another shot in the arm for TUSAŞ, coming as it does just days after the delivery of the first HÜRKUŞ-II to the Turkish Air Force.
The two-seater, low-wing, single-engine turboprop aircraft has been designed for basic training and light ground attack purposes. The aircraft achieved military certification in September. The aircraft features avionics and software subsystems made by Turkish firms such as Aselsan and Havelsan. Hürkuş-II has an airframe length and wingspan of 36 feet, a wide-angle heads-up display, a modern avionics and communications system, built-in flight simulator, 30-second inverted flight positioning. The aircraft uses a 1,600-horsepower Pratt & Whitney PT6A-68T engine.
Rapidly Growing Defence Ties
In yet another sign that Türkiye and Azerbaijan are preparing to take their defence ties up a few notches, the two countries signed multiple contracts during the ongoing event. Haluk Görgün, head of Türkiye's Secretariat of Defense Industries, said in a statement that the countries, which support each other during natural disasters, wars and other times of need, were strengthening defense industry cooperation to promote regional peace and stability.
Barbaros Coastal Defence System: Also on the opening day of the event, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry and ROKETSAN signed a deal for the supply of the company’s Barbaros Coastal Defence System to Azerbaijan. The mobile coastal defence system, which provides rapid response capabilities against maritime threats, is capable of operating with ATMACA and CAKIR cruise missiles. The system, which can be integrated with higher-level combat management systems, includes the launcher and command-and-control vehicles.
“We are very pleased that our Barbaros Coastal Defence System will be added to the inventory of the Azerbaijani army. With its capabilities, Barbaros will play a strategic role as Azerbaijan’s new guardian on its coastline,” said ROKETSAN General Manager Murat Ikinci.
Mizrak Loitering Munition
Azerbaijan operates the TB2 and has also acquired the larger twin-engine Akıncı. Soon, it will operate another Baykar weapon system – the Mizrak loitering munition. With the signing of the contract for the export of the weapon to Azerbaijan, the country has become its first international customer.
Mızrak is designed to deliver high impact at medium altitude; the system stands out with its customizable structure, high strike capacity, and extended range. Offered in two main configurations, the system's dual-warhead variant carries a total of 40 kg of explosives, while the single-warhead variant carries 20 kg of explosives in addition to an RF seeker head for precise target detection. In addition to conventional takeoff with landing gear, Mızrak also features a rocket-assisted takeoff (RATO) option, allowing it to operate not only from fully equipped runways but also from challenging and unprepared areas. The system is capable of establishing digital data and video links with the Bayraktar TB2, TB3, and AKINCI platforms; it unique features are anti-jamming protection, visual positioning capability, onboard autopilot, and AI-supported fully autonomous flight capabilities.

ALP-100 Radar Systems
ASELSAN signed a memorandum of understanding for the supply of ALP-100 radar systems to Azerbaijan. The multi-function, GaN-based S-band Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) low-altitude air-surveillance radar serves as a primary search radar for ground-based air defense and as a gap-filler for long-range radars to catch low-flying targets. It is part of Türkiye's integrated air defense architecture. The ALP-100 radar system offers a range exceeding 100 nautical miles (over 185 km) with 360° coverage. It can simultaneously track over 1,000 targets, including fighter jets, helicopters, UAVs, cruise missiles, and ballistic targets like rockets, artillery, and mortars, across low, medium, and high altitudes.

ASELSAN also signed another deal, a preliminary agreement with NOVASİS, to establish a factory in Nakhchivan. Meanwhile, MKE and Miras signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation and business development, while Otokar and Miras inked a logistics support cooperation contract.
