Indian Navy Decommissions Kilo Class Submarine INS Sindhudhvaj

The Indian Navy has decommissioned its Russian-built Kilo Class submarine INS Sindhudhvaj after 35 years of service.

INS Sindhudhvaj was the flag bearer of indigenization and had many firsts to her credit including operationalization of the indigenized sonar USHUS, indigenized Satellite Communication systems Rukmani and MSS, Inertial Navigation System and Indigenised Torpedo Fire Control System.

She also successfully undertook mating and personnel transfer with Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel and was the only submarine to be awarded the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Rolling trophy for Innovation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
