The Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) has received two new indigenous Landing Ship Tank (LST) transport ships in the same class as the already commissioned KRI Teluk Bintuni (520) and KRI Teluk Lada (521).
The two new ships named KRI Teluk Kendari (518) and KRI Teluk Kupang (519), were delivered on Nov. 26. They have been built by PT Dok dan Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (PT DKB) as part of TNI-AL procurement program for a total of twelve new LSTs.
As of today, there are seven finished Teluk Bintuni – class LSTs, of which two are already in active duty. Two more are currently under construction.
Each ship of the 5300-ton, 117-120 meter Teluk Bintuni-class LSTs is capable of transporting up to 10 main battle tanks or 15 amphibious IFVs as well as carrying and operating two helicopters.
