PT Infoglobal is displaying a full-scale mockup of a compact twin-engined jet fighter named I-22 Sikatan in the outdoor area at the Indo Defence 2022 show. The Indonesian avionics company has previously hinted that it is currently developing a combat jet aircraft parallel with its other projects such as UAVs, sensor suites, and more.
According to Infoglobal, the aircraft is being developed as a multirole combat jet with a range of capabilities including electronic warfare, intelligence, surveillance, and others. It will be built in both single-seat and two-seater versions. It will also serve as the company’s testbed for its avionics products.
With a length of 12.5 meters, a 7 meters wingspan, and a height of 3.5 meters, I-22 Sikatan has a similar dimension to the Hawk 109 trainer and the Hawk 209 light multirole fighter. The Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) is currently operating about 30 Hawk 109/209 aircraft which were acquired in the 1990s.
