Instalaza To Showcase Advanced Systems At DSA 2026

Instalaza Strengthens Presence in Malaysia

The Spanish defence manufacturing powerhouse Instalaza has officially confirmed its high-profile participation in the upcoming Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2026 exhibition.

Scheduled to take place from 20 to 23 April 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur, the biennial event serves as the primary gateway for European manufacturers looking to penetrate the competitive Southeast Asian market. This strategic commitment underscores a burgeoning interest from Western defence firms in the modernisation efforts currently being undertaken by the Malaysian Armed Forces and its regional neighbours.

The Zaragoza-based firm intends to utilise the exhibition floor to showcase its latest advancements in shoulder-fired weapon systems, specifically focusing on the C90 Reusable infantry system. This particular platform has garnered significant international attention due to its modularity and high lethality-to-weight ratio, which are critical factors for infantry units operating in the dense jungle environments characteristic of the Asia-Pacific region. Senior leadership from the Spanish firm are expected to conduct high-level briefings with regional procurement officers and technical experts throughout the four-day trade show to discuss potential technology transfer and local maintenance support.

Official Statements

According to official corporate statements released by Instalaza and preliminary schedules provided by the DSA 2026 organising committee, the company will occupy a prominent position within the Spanish Pavilion at Level 2, Hall 7. Industry analysts suggest that this participation is a direct response to the increasing demand for man-portable anti-tank and multi-purpose weaponry in the region, driven by shifting security paradigms and the need for agile, cost-effective fire support. The exhibition is hosted and co-organised by the Malaysian Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Ministry of Home Affairs, providing a direct channel for Instalaza to engage with the highest levels of Malaysian military leadership.

A central highlight of the display will be the Alcotan-100 (M2) system, which offers a sophisticated fire control unit capable of engaging moving targets with high precision at ranges of up to 600 metres. The inclusion of the C90-CR (M3.5) variant, equipped with its integrated 2X optical sight and night vision compatibility, aligns with the Malaysian Army’s ongoing initiatives to enhance the night-fighting capabilities of its frontline battalions. As regional tensions necessitate a more robust defensive posture, these disposable and reusable systems represent a scalable solution for nations balancing budget constraints with the requirement for modern infantry hardware.

Asia-Pacific Angle

The broader Asia-Pacific angle remains a critical component of Instalaza’s long-term commercial strategy, as the company seeks to build on previous successes in Indonesia and Thailand. By establishing a firm footprint at DSA 2026, the Spanish manufacturer aims to position itself as a reliable alternative to traditional suppliers, offering European-standard technology without the complex geopolitical strings often attached to larger power dynamics. This move comes at a time when Southeast Asian nations are increasingly diversifying their supply chains to ensure strategic autonomy and resilience against global logistics disruptions.

Market observers note that the presence of European SMEs like Instalaza at Malaysian trade shows reflects a wider trend of "middle power" cooperation in the defence sector. As Malaysia continues to implement its Defence White Paper, the emphasis on indigenous industrial growth and smart partnerships becomes paramount. Instalaza’s willingness to engage in technical dialogues suggests a potential for future collaborations with Malaysian defence firms, which could involve local assembly or the provision of advanced training simulators to the Malaysian Army’s training centres.
