The Israeli “Air Force 1” aircraft has finally begun a series of test flights. This after repeated delays and huge unexplained investments.
The first four hours test flight served to check the flight systems of the converted Boeing 767. In the coming weeks the flights will focus on testing the special systems put on the aircraft like the Elbit systems MUSIC used to protect the aircraft against shoulder launched missiles.
After the completion of all the test flights and the approval of all the systems, the 767 will be handed over to the Israeli Air Force (IAF), that will operate it on official flights. The 767-300 will be maintained by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the company that has performed the complicated conversion under top secrecy.
