Israeli-Developed EZ Raider for Japanese Army

Japanese company Jalux is offering the Israeli developed EZ Raider personal transportation systems to the Japanese army and security organizations.

According to Brig. Gen. (res.) Miki Bar, CEO of DSraider, the company that has developed the unique system, there is a big interest in the system. “Jalux is working with us in the Japanese market.”

Transporting soldiers and equipment through rough terrains requires tactical solutions that could navigate in terrain previously only reached by foot.

Israeli company DSraider, has developed a revolutionary personal tactical vehicle for armed forces. The EZ Raider HD 4 is an off-road electric-powered manned vehicle that without any doubt creates a new story_category in the field of personal tactical vehicle. The vehicle has a unique go-anywhere mobility capability, and thus acts as an operational power-multiplier of the user.

The US armed forces have evaluated the vehicle and after a successful set of tests have purchased a number of vehicles in order to continue the operational evaluation.

The Israeli defence forces (IDF) and the Israeli police are also in the middle of an operational evaluation.

According to the company the EZ Raider HD 4’s operation simplicity, high reliability and durability, enhance operative advantages in a variety of operational scenarios with a high-level of safety for the user.

The EZ Raider HD 4 is powered by two 1200 W electric motors and can carry onboard up to two fighters with full combat gear. It can tow a special cart for additional equipment. The cart is also powered with an electric motor. The electric motors with high torque and precise response to user commands can power by a 3000 W battery gives the vehicle an operational range of up to  80 km.

According to the Israeli company, the EZ Raider HD  4 can be easily folded for transportation. The vehicle’s width is 27 inch and it weighs 209 pounds  It is equipped with an Intuitive and accurate driving system control .

Bar said that the unique vehicle can carry a payload up to 370 pounds, and an additional 550 pounds, while equipped with Raider electric powered cart.

The four wheels are connected to special suspension systems that gives every wheel an independent horizontal and vertical movement “that allows the vehicle to cope with rough terrain” Bar explained.

The board on which the soldier stands is 20 inch above ground and this also adds to the vehicle’s capability to move in rough terrain.

“The soldier uses body movements like the ones skiers of water gliders use to control the movements.”

Bar added that the IR signature of the vehicle is very low, a fact that adds to its stealthiness. “The electric motor emit something like 122 Fahrenheit and that can be lowered with simple heat shielding materials.”

Mistral, a US company, is working with the US armed forces to make the EZRaider HD 4 a standard item in the approved systems that can be purchased by the different fighting units.

The interest is not limited to the armed forces. Recently the vehicle was tested in a drill that was designed to improve the readiness of local law enforcement organizations to cope with emergencies. An American source said that in this drill the Israeli developed vehicle was tested “above and under the ground” He refused to elaborate.

The Israeli police is already using the EZ RAIDER HD mainly in its border police units.

Naturally the enthusiasm from the new vehicle is big but I went to talk with the experts that know the operational problems from long years of service and command.

Major Gen. (Ret.) Giora Eiland is a former head of the Israeli national Security Council. In his long years of service, he was, among other things, the commander of an airborne battalion and the Chief Officer of the IDF’s infantry corps. Eiland said that the EZ-RAIDER HD 4 is suited for special operations when a unit has to cross a distance in silence and fast. “This vehicle can be of great help in mountainous areas where the oxygen percentage is low, and the fighter carrying a heavy back pack in addition to a weapon is very limited in his pace of movement.”

Eiland added that the special vehicle can be very useful when special unit is flown by a helicopter to perform an attack. “We in the IDF, years ago, tested small buggies for such missions but they were noisy and did not have the capability to cope with obstacles that the new vehicle has.”
