Italian Navy Warship Francesco Morosini Makes Show Debut

Our Bureau - : May 24, 2023 - : 3:56 am

The Italian Navy warship Francesco Morosini is making its debut at Langkawi, where it is part of the maritime segment of the show.

The new Italian Navy warship is making a five month global campaign in the region and had previously berthed in Singapore, where it was part of the warship display at IMDEX Asia.

The brand new warship was delivered to the Italian Navy in October 2022, at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Muggiano (La Spezia). The PPA Vessel was named after Francesco Morosini, the 108th Doge of Venice and General Sea Captain of the Venetian Fleet (1688 – 1694).

One of the main features of the Francesco Morosini is the new concept bridge “Naval Cockpit”, an integrated system that allows the conduct of the ship and the majority of maritime operations by only two operators, the pilot and the co-pilot, who incorporated the figures of the duty officer on the bridge and the command.

The Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Vessel represents the cutting-edge of Italian technology in the naval and electronic sector.

The warship has a displacement of 6,000 tonne and is 143 metres in length and 17.5 metres in width.

The Morosini’s motto is Ex Undis Signum Victoriae (from the waves presaging victory).
