Italy’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams have received advanced radar technology from Camero-Tech to assist in locating survivors in disaster-stricken areas. The company's Xaver systems, designed for detecting and imaging live and static objects behind walls and obstacles, aim to enhance the effectiveness of first responders.
A training session on the use of Camero-Tech’s Sense-Through-Wall radar systems was recently held at the Regional Fire Department headquarters in Rome. USAR teams from multiple regions participated, learning to operate the equipment in real-world disaster scenarios. The training demonstrated the system’s ability to detect individuals trapped behind walls and under rubble, confirming its accuracy and reliability in search and rescue operations.
The supplied Search & Rescue kit includes the Xaver 100, a handheld device for detecting the presence of live individuals; the Xaver 400, which provides real-time imaging of live and static objects and their locations; and Xavernet, a remote control ToughPad that enables simultaneous monitoring of multiple Xaver systems for improved coordination. The equipment is lightweight, stored in a dedicated backpack for quick deployment, and designed to support operations in hazardous environments.
"We are proud to support Italy’s Urban Search and Rescue teams with our cutting-edge radar technology," said Amir Beeri, CEO of Camero-Tech. "The ability to detect survivors in collapsed structures is critical for rescue operations, and our Xaver radar systems have already proven their life-saving capabilities in disaster zones worldwide. This deployment in Italy marks another step in our commitment to enhancing first responders' effectiveness in search and rescue missions."
Camero-Tech, a member of the SK Group, develops ultra-wideband (UWB) micro-power radar technology for through-wall imaging. The company states that its Xaver systems are radiation-safe and comply with international standards for human exposure.
