Abu Al-Ragheb also emphasized that JODDB, in light of its strategic plans to expand the localisation of defence industries and advanced technologies, signed more than 10 cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding with several local and international entities and companies with the aim of transferring and exchanging technology and knowledge, and enhancing localization in the fields of defence and security industries, future technologies and cybersecurity.
Abu Al-Ragheb stated that some of these agreements were aimed at enhancing the integration between the public and private sectors and supporting local startups.
Important Deals Inked
A memorandum of understanding was signed between JODDB and the Military Uniforms Factory of the Military Industries Corporation
in Saudi Arabia. The agreement states that JODDBs Test and Evaluation Center is the authorized party to test the factory’s products of helmets, vests and protective plates in order to confirm the products conformity to the international standards, which enables the factory to market its products.
Abu Al-Ragheb added that JODDBs Test and Evaluation center is a state-of-the art center and one of its kind in the Middle East in terms of the used technologies and equipment, the accumulated experience and the good reputation of its staff. This paved the way for the center to get accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to perform more than 400 standard tests. Consequently, JODDB became the reference for several organizations and manufacturers in the region in this matter.
JAWS and Colt’s Manufacturing
Jordan Armament and Weapon Systems (JAWS), one of Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) subsidiaries, signed a memorandum of understanding with an American company, Colt’s Manufacturing LLC, which specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of light weapons.
This agreement comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation between the two companies in terms of experience and knowledge
exchange, especially in the field of converting M16 rifles to M4 rifles. The agreement offers the possibility for further discussions regarding enhancing the capabilities of local manufacturing of light weapon systems in the future. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the show. This cooperation is expected to play a key role in JODDB`s efforts to develop a sustainable and self-sufficient defence industries sector in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by supporting the localization of defence products manufacturing.
