Veteran journalist Geoffrey Thomas was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contribution to Aerospace Journalism and Publishing at the Aerospace Media Awards presented at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London on Tuesday.
The award was presented to Thomas by Vadim Feldzer, Head of Global Communications for Dassault Aviation and well known Scottish celebrity Fred MacAulay. The judges cited his almost five decades of coverage of the aviation industry, 42 awards and 11 books in the accolade.
In 2009, Geoffrey had the dual honour of being named the overall Aerospace Journalist of the Year at the Leadership Forum in Paris and the Australasian Aviation Journalist of the Year by the National Aviation Press Club.
Geoffrey, who is a major editorial contributor to Asian Airlines and Aerospace, has appeared in four aviation investigative documentaries and is a consultant to and participant in Air Crash Investigation. He has appeared extensively on CNN and the BBC.
Recently Geoffrey was a significant commentator in The Age of Aerospace documentary series celebrating Boeing’s 100th year.
