Korea Aerospace Industries, Ltd. (KAI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) at the show for ‘cooperation in the development of a Next-Generation Aerial Combat System (NACS)’.

The two companies will combine their cutting-edge technology capabilities and research infrastructure in the core technology fields of the next-generation aerial combat system to jointly secure innovative aerospace technology and promote responsiveness to future battlefield environments.

“This MOU will be a meaningful opportunity to take the long-term cooperative relationship between the two organizations, which is based on trust, to the next level,” and “KAI will be reborn as a ‘technology leader’ that leads future aviation technology through this cooperation based on the system development capabilities it has accumulated as a ‘fast follower,’” said Kim Ji-hong, Executive Director of KAI Future Convergence Technology Institute

KAI is developing a Medium Unmanned Combat Collaborative Aircraft (MUCCA) and a Small Unmanned Collaborative Aircraft (SUCCA) through its own investment, as well as technology demonstrations and AI pilots using these systems.

Through this collaboration with NLR, the South Korean airframer plans to accelerate the development of manned-unmanned composite systems and strengthen its technological competitiveness.
