Korea Aerospace Industries is exhibiting a Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) Aviation Light Attack Helicopter (LAH) in the indoor display of the ongoing Seoul ADEX. KAI’s Air Launched Effects (ALE), an unmanned aerial vehicle capable of launching from a helicopter in flight and performing missions such as reconnaissance, deception, and suicide, is also on display alongside the LAH. KAI's Heliborne MUM-T (Heliborne Multi-Unmanned Combat System) is currently under research, aiming for operational deployment by 2030. The LAH is the ROKA’s next-generation armed helicopter that delivers superior firepower, agility, and survivability for both attack and reconnaissance missions. It will replace the ROKA’s aging MD-500 and AH-1S Cobra helicopters and aircraft’s design was based on the Light Civil Helicopter (LCH) platform, co-developed by KAI and Airbus Helicopters. The LAH is powered by twin Safran Arriel 2l2 turboshaft engines and features a newly designed main gearbox. It has a low vibration/noise main and tail rotor (ducted fan) blades and a 4-axis digital AFCS. The helicopter has a 3-barreled 20mm turret gun, 70mm (2.75”) rockets, MBDA Mistral ATAMs and is fitted with
latest aircraft survivability equipment (RWR, LWR, MWR, Chaff/Flare Dispenser).
