Turkish defence manufacturer Katmerciler has announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with Malaysia’s DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies (DEFTECH) during the ongoing IDEF 2025.
The agreement will focus on cooperation related to the “EREN 4×4 High Mobility Light Tactical Vehicle.” The deal is expected to support technology transfer and local production capabilities for the Malaysian defence sector. Katmerciler CEO Mehmet Katmerci and DEFTECH CEO Mohammad Shanaz bin Mohammad Shees signed the agreement.
The EREN 4×4, which was developed by Katmerciler and whose intellectual property is held by the company, is a light tactical vehicle designed for high mobility, versatility, and protection. It features a reinforced monocoque body offering ballistic and mine resistance, with a configuration suited for diverse operational environments, including urban and confined areas.
The cooperation with DEFTECH will explore opportunities for joint development, assembly, and supply of the EREN 4×4, as well as potential localisation in Malaysia through transfer of design and manufacturing expertise.
Katmerciler is showcasing both the EREN 4×4 and its other defence platforms at IDEF 2025, including the 4×4 Mine-Resistant Armoured Vehicle HIZIR and the Medium-Class Level 2 Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), known as O-UGV 2. Both systems are designed and developed in-house by Katmerciler’s R&D Centre.
Founded in 1985 and publicly traded on Borsa Istanbul since 2010, Katmerciler exports to over 75 countries. It operates production facilities in Ankara and Izmir and maintains a broad defence portfolio including tactical armoured vehicles, UGVs, riot control systems, and logistics vehicles.
