Even as he remains focused on making the ninth edition of Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026) an unprecedented success, Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari, Chairman of the DIMDEX 2026 Organising Committee, is letting his mind think about the next edition.
The tenth edition of the event, he said on the eve of the ongoing event, will be special. Discussions on how to enhance the event even further in the next edition have commenced. There are plans to add new sectors to what is primarily a platform for maritime defence and security. The committee would like to ensure that DIMDEX becomes a platform to bring investments into Qatar, Staff Brigadier Al-Ansari added.
“If we compare the journey from 2008 until now, we started with around 65 exhibitors,” the Organizing Committee Chairman said. “Today, we have more than 200. We also have eight major international pavilions.”
Staff Brigadier Al-Ansari also emphasised the importance of extending the exhibition to four days, in response to exhibitors' requests, ensuring that exhibitors and visiting delegations have maximum opportunity to benefit from the event.
DIMDEX 2026 brings together over 200 national and international companies specialising in security and defence, alongside eight major international pavilions. The event features a wide range of local and national companies from related sectors, as well as representation from various branches of the Qatar Armed Forces. The exhibition showcases the latest defence innovations and technologies across more than 40,000 square metres of space.
The event has attracted returning and first-time sponsors. While UAE’s EDGE, making its show debut, is the Main Sponsor, Fincantieri is the Diamond Sponsor. The Platinum Sponsor is Abdulghani Motors. Barzan Holdings, MBDA, and Ooredoo are the Gold Sponsors while Estithmar Holding and Vodafone are the Silver Sponsors. Qatar Media Corporation is the National Media Sponsor while CAE and Boeing are Supporting Sponsors.
