Our Bureau - : Jan 20, 2026 - : 12:38 am

KNDS France is participating at DIMDEX with a focus on its VBCI Mk2 infantry fighting vehicle and the RAPIDFire Land close-in air defence system, highlighting solutions designed to address contemporary battlefield threats.

The VBCI Mk2 is being presented as a highly mobile and adaptable platform offering a balance of protection, firepower and operational flexibility. The vehicle can be configured to integrate a range of turret systems according to customer requirements, including turrets armed with 30 mm cannons. KNDS France notes that the VBCI Mk2 benefits from operational experience gained by French forces across multiple deployments, including in Mali, Lebanon, Afghanistan, the Central African Republic and Eastern Europe.

KNDS France also underlined its longstanding cooperation with Qatari forces, particularly in the field of 30 mm ammunition, a relationship that dates back more than four decades to cooperation on the Mirage 2000 programme. Through its KNDS Ammo division, the company offers a full range of 30×173 mm munitions, including armour-piercing fin-stabilised kinetic energy penetrator rounds.

In the air defence domain, KNDS France is showcasing RAPIDFire Land, a remotely operated 40 mm turreted system designed to counter aerial threats such as drones and loitering munitions. The system provides point and local area defence for high-value assets at ranges of up to 4 km. RAPIDFire Land is armed with the same 40 mm CTA cannon used on the EBRC Jaguar and can fire the full family of 40 mm telescoped ammunition, including the Anti-Aerial Airburst (A3B) round dedicated to air defence missions.

The A3B munition employs airburst technology to disperse tungsten sub-projectiles with a directional terminal effect, improving effectiveness against a wide range of aerial targets. Compared to conventional 30×173 mm ammunition, the 40 mm telescoped family offers extended effective range, reduced munition length and increased onboard ammunition capacity.

RAPIDFire Land is available in both an 8×8 vehicle-mounted configuration and a 20-foot deployable pallet version, offering high mobility and rapid deployment. The system carries up to 140 ready-to-fire rounds, enabling sustained engagement of multiple targets without immediate reloading.
