Korean Air is set to expand its network in China and Japan to cater to the increasing travel demand in the region. The airline will resume several routes and increase frequencies on existing ones.
From October 22, the Seoul Incheon-Mudanjiang route will operate five times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Busan-Qingdao service will resume on December 1, operating daily. Both routes were suspended for four years due to the pandemic.
Additionally, Korean Air will increase the frequency of its Seoul Incheon-Zhengzhou route to daily from August 12, up from four weekly flights. The Seoul Incheon-Xiamen route will also see an increase to daily services starting October 1.
The Seoul Incheon-Taichung route will be enhanced in two phases. From September 10 to October 26, it will operate four times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. From October 27, the frequency will increase to daily flights.
The airline will also relaunch its Seoul Incheon-Nagasaki route on October 27 for the winter season, operating four times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This route has been inactive for over 11 years.
Furthermore, the Seoul Incheon-Osaka route will temporarily increase to four daily flights from September 2 to October 26, up from the current three daily flights, to accommodate the expected rise in autumn travel.
By December 2024, Korean Air aims to restore its services to China to 95% of the December 2019 capacity and to Japan to 106% of pre-pandemic levels.
