Korean Air is set to improve its services with an upgrade to airport lounges and the introduction of Premium Economy cabins. These initiatives align with the airline’s new corporate identity following the Asiana integration.
At Incheon International Airport Terminal 2, the airline will expand and renovate existing lounges. New "Prestige Class Garden Lounges" will be constructed in the east and west wings, part of the airport’s Phase 4 expansion, to accommodate increased passenger traffic after Asiana Airlines' relocation to Terminal 2. The Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing will double in size, while the Miler Club Lounge will also be expanded. These lounges will open in phases from August 2025.
The First Class Lounge and the Prestige Class Lounge in the west wing will undergo renovations and reopen in April 2026. Upon completion, Korean Air will operate six lounges at Incheon, increasing the total lounge space by 2.5 times and doubling seating capacity. The First Class Lounge will be redesigned to provide a premium environment that "exceeds airport lounge conventions," offering an atmosphere akin to luxury hotel lounges.
Food and beverage options will be improved with live kitchens serving diverse cuisine, while bartenders and baristas will prepare cocktails, wines, and other beverages. Dedicated bakeries and patisseries will offer croissants, pizzas, and desserts, and a signature noodle bar will provide freshly prepared dishes.
Korean Air also plans to revamp its lounges at key international hubs, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), incorporating city-themed designs. Additionally, a new feature on the airline’s mobile app will offer real-time information on lounge locations, amenities, reservations, and crowd levels to enhance passenger convenience.
In response to rising demand, Korean Air will introduce Premium Economy seating. The airline will retrofit 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, removing First Class cabins to make room for Premium Economy. The first retrofitted aircraft will enter service in the latter half of 2025 with a three-class configuration: Prestige (Business), Premium Economy, and Economy. Fleet modifications will continue through 2026 to expand Premium Economy availability on more routes.
