Leonardo DRS has placed its cutting-edge “Edge-Assured” Battlefield Management System (BMS) in the spotlight at DSEI Japan 2025, underlining its growing footprint in the global defence sector. The modular, scalable and fully integrated system has already been adopted by 14 countries, with over 500,000 units deployed globally—an indication of its increasing relevance in modern combat environments.
Built with mission assurance in mind, the Edge-Assured BMS is designed to support a wide array of operational demands. It serves not only as a battlefield management platform but also as a central integration point for communications, sensors, and mission-critical applications. Key capabilities of the system include next-generation embedded cybersecurity, support for multi-application and multi-mission scenarios, sensor integration, VICTORY services hosting, and seamless vehicle network connectivity.
In line with rising concerns over digital threats and cyber resilience in the defence sector, Leonardo DRS has incorporated multiple layers of protection into its Edge-Assured products. These include factory-provisioned TPM 2.0, a security-hardened BIOS, preplaced signing and encryption keys, double-signed BIOS updates, Hardware Root of Trust (HRoT), and embedded integrity management. These features aim to ensure the system remains resilient and secure even under complex and contested operational conditions.
Leonardo DRS describes its approach as empowering commanders and operators through advanced C5ISR capabilities—Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance—offering a robust networked solution across platforms.
“At DSEI Japan, we are proud to showcase our commitment to the Japanese military and the broader Indo-Pacific region with our revolutionary integrated sensing mission command systems, counter-UAS radars, and advanced naval propulsion technologies,” said Bill Guyan, Senior Vice President of Business Development and President, International.
The company says these technologies are intended to enhance multi-domain situational awareness and improve overall mission effectiveness—goals that are increasingly prioritised by regional defence forces seeking to adapt to evolving operational challenges.
Leonardo DRS has established a growing network of regional partnerships across Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, India, Taiwan, and Japan. These relationships are seen as critical in fostering joint innovation, improving interoperability, and addressing shared security concerns throughout the Indo-Pacific.
