Leonardo DRS’s Land Electronics Division provides the Indonesian Army with a proven battle management system. The U.S. based firm’s land electronics division is a specialist in sensor integration. Speaking to GBP Daily News at the ongoing show in Jakarta, Al Mosher, Vice President, International Business Development at Leonardo DRS, said the company has been present in Indonesia for some time, implementing the Galileo programme in which the Indonesian Army battle management software was integrated with Leonardo DRS’ hardware fitted on Indonesian Army ANOA and KOMODO armoured vehicles.
The Galileo programme is a solution delivered by Leonardo DRS in response to an Indonesian requirement for a shot detection system that would locate a weapon shooting of any type as well as identify the weapon type and its location. The battle management system on the armoured vehicles is then used to slew its weapon system. The capability was successfully delivered by Leonardo DRS in close partnership with local partner PT CIPTA TEKNIK BERJAYA. Several other partners are involved in the programme, providing items such as the shot detection sensor. According to Mosher, the company is now looking at a potential next phase of the programme
