In the naval domain, Leonardo will showcase its capabilities in combat systems and their integration, combat management systems and naval communication systems.

“A wide range of sensors including multifunctional radar, panoramic EO IRST and FCS represent the main offer in the region,” a company official tells Show Preview.

Leonardo is placing a major emphasis on its Kronos family, which features a new generation of multi- functional and multi mission AESA (active Electronic scanning anten- nas) radars. Several versions of the Kronos radar optimised for naval applications are available.

There are two versions of the radar, one version is ideally suited for warships starting from 1700 tonne and here the Kronos radar is used primarily to perform medium and extended range naval missions like self-defence, area and fleet protection, and active missiles guidance.

The other version of the radar is suited for smaller vessels starting from 400 tonne, where it per- forms short and medium range naval missions like point and self-defence and short-range missiles guidance. In addition to these radars, Leonardo is now developing a Dual Band Multifunction radar in X and C bands to meet the requirements of Italy’s fleet renewal programme.

At IMDEX Leonardo will also put on display its wide range of naval artillery, guided ammunition and of state-of-the-art underwater systems. The company offers naval cannons such as the 127/64 LW, 76/62 SR (with option for STRALES guided ammunition Multi feeding) and small caliber Systems such as Marlin 40mm and Marlin 40mm and HITROLE 12,7mm. Leonardo’s Black Shark Heavyweight Torpedo, MU90 and A244 Lightweight Torpedoes are in use with submarine forces world- wide. To meet emerging submarine threats, the company is showcasing its torpedo launching system for both underwater and surface vessels as well as airborne platforms, in addition to sonar and counter measure systems.
