Leonardo Unveils New Lionfish Naval Turrets

European defence conglomerate,  Leonardo, has launched a new family of small-calibre remotely controlled turrets under the Lionfish brandname.

Lionfish remotely controlled turrets are fully designed and developed within Leonardo and comprises of four models, including: Ultralight, Inner Reloading and Top of 12.7 mm calibre, and the model 20 of 20 mm calibre.

The Lionfish family of turrets, feature a common architecture and have a compact and low weight structure.

The state-of-the-art remotely controlled turrets are being touted by Leonardo as a highly versatile solution suitable for installation on board any type of ship, as a primary and secondary defence system.

Its new advanced human-machine interfaces will also lead to reduced crew training times.

The new turrets are equipped with Leonardo’s state-of-the-art electro-optical sensors which allow identification of targets with extreme precision, both at night and during the day.
