South Korea’s LIG Nex1 recently entered into a partnership with Airbus Defense & Space (Airbus DS) and the two firms are now actively pursuing cooperative activities to expand the global market in the integrated air defense market. An LIG Nex1 official stated, “With the recent increase in complex threats such as unmanned aerial vehicles, ballistic missiles, and long-range rockets, the need for a multi-layered, network-based integrated air defense system is growing.” He added,
“We hope that this cooperation will serve as an opportunity to develop a Korean-style integrated air defense system and expand future and new businesses and overseas markets.” Both companies will target overseas markets by combining their experience in integrated air defence systems with operational NATO Surface-to-Air Missile Operations Center (SAMOC) technology.

LIG Nex1 signed a 'Cooperation Agreement for Future Cooperation in the Integrated Air Defense Field' with Airbus DS this September and the latest cooperation agreement is an extension of the agreement signed by both firms at Seoul ADEX 2023.LIG Nex1 and Airbus DS will now expand cooperation for domestic integrated air defense system concept research as well as export projects with major countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia in the future.
LIG Nex1 is the only defense company in South Morea with a proven track record of system integration for all air defense guided weapons, from Cheongung to L-SAM. Airbus DS, which is headquartered in France has proven its technological prowess and international interoperability through SAMOC, a surface-to-air integrated air defense command and control system that has been operationally deployed in NATO.
