Magellan Aerospace Expands Defense Manufacturing at Farnborough International Airshow

Aerospace manufacturer Magellan Aerospace is showcasing its commercial aviation, defense and space capabilities at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026, while highlighting a new contract to produce the M72 Light Anti-Tank Weapon (LAW) for the Canadian government.

Headquartered in Canada, Magellan Aerospace supplies complex aerostructures, aeroengine components and systems to commercial aircraft manufacturers, defense contractors and space agencies worldwide. The company also provides engine repair, overhaul and maintenance services through operations across North America, Europe and India.

During the airshow, Magellan said it had secured a contract under Canada's Munitions Supply Program to manufacture the combat-proven M72 LAW, a shoulder-fired anti-armor weapon used by military forces around the world.

The company said the agreement will establish domestic production of the weapon in Canada, strengthening the country's defense industrial base, improving supply chain resilience and ensuring the Canadian Armed Forces have a reliable source of critical munitions.

"This agreement represents a milestone for Magellan Aerospace and for Canada's defence objectives," said Haydn Martin, the company's vice president for business development, marketing and contracts. He said the project would help strengthen Canada's sovereign defense manufacturing capability while supporting high-skilled jobs.

The initiative aligns with Canada's broader strategy to expand domestic defense production, enhance industrial self-reliance and reinforce the North American and NATO defense supply chain.

Magellan Aerospace is among hundreds of aerospace and defense companies exhibiting at the Farnborough International Airshow, where manufacturers are showcasing new technologies, production capabilities and defense innovations amid growing global demand for commercial aircraft and military equipment.

Listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: MAL), Magellan Aerospace designs and manufactures aeroengine and aerostructure components, develops defense and space technologies, and provides engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services to customers worldwide.

The biennial airshow, which runs through July 24, remains one of the aerospace industry's premier events, bringing together aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, airlines and defense companies to unveil new technologies, announce major commercial deals and forge international partnerships.
