Maiden Flight for 2nd N219 Prototype in Early 2019

The second prototype of Indonesia’s N219 commuter aircraft will make its maiden flight early next year, an official of PT Dirgantara Indonesia informs Daily News.

The aircraft is currently undergoing ground tests. The first prototype aircraft remains in flight test and has now completed approximately 100 hours of testing. The N219 is a new generation Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft that can accommodate 19 passengers.

The aircraft has a MTOW of 7 tonnes, at which weight, it can take-off in 1427 feet (ISA, SL, 35 feet obstacle). At a flight altitude of 10,000 feet with holding time of 45 mins, the N219 will have a range of 480 nm with 19 passengers.

The N219 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42 engines with 850 SHP each and is being designed to be the fastest aircraft in its class. The aircraft features a high wing configuration with fixed landing gear and has an unpressurized cabin.
