Malaysia Airlines and India’s largest airline, IndiGo, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a codeshare partnership and cooperation agreement on Wednesday (Apr. 3). This collaboration aims to enhance connectivity and provide customers with more travel options between Malaysia and India.
Under this agreement, Malaysia Airlines will strengthen its presence in India by becoming the marketing carrier on IndiGo-operated flights. Meanwhile, IndiGo customers will gain access to a wider range of Southeast Asia destinations through Malaysia’s flag carrier extensive network. The reciprocal arrangement will facilitate seamless connections for passengers of both airlines and enable them to enjoy integrated travel itineraries and other amenities.
“With India being our largest international market, we are delighted to enter this MoU with IndiGo to further widen our reach beyond the nine hubs we currently operate within India,” said Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group. “This collaboration underscores our ongoing commitment to providing diverse travel options and flexibility to this growing aviation market, with a primary focus on enhancing the customer journey.”

“We are pleased to announce our proposed codeshare agreement with Malaysia Airlines, the national carrier of Malaysia. This partnership will not only offer seamless travel experience between India and Malaysia but also enhance international trade opportunities by improving accessibility,” said Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo.
“This codeshare is in line with our vision to provide access to an unparalleled network while delivering on our promise of providing on-time, affordable, courteous, and hassle-free travel experiences,” he emphasised.
Presently, Malaysia Airlines operates 71 weekly flights to nine key hubs in India, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, and Trivandrum.
