MB Aerospace Expands Operations in Taiwan

MB Aerospace has officially opened a second facility in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

The factory, which is part of the company’s MB Aerospace ACTS Taiwan business , adds 43,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The company is confident that the investment will provide a footprint for planned growth in repair capabilities and
special processes. It will also create opportunities to introduce the company’s component manufacturing capabilities to the region.

The new factory will house a state-of-the-art Low Pressure Compressor Stator repair cell to support special process technologies, including plasma and thermal coatings. Since the acquisition from previous JV shareholders /Pratt & Whitney, Singapore Airlines and China Airlines in Janunary 2018, the company’s Taiwan team has joined the
Pratt & Whitney GTF engine global network as a repair provider. The company has also won contracts with two major aero-engine OEMs. customers.

“After a hugely successful first year for the MB Aerospace ACTS Taiwan business , we have ambitious plans to grow our
global repair operation by investing in new technologies , adding capabilities and extending the overall scope of the business,” said MB Aerospace Chief Exec\utive Craig Gallagher. “We are pleased to further broaden our Repair customer base and add to the range of installed base platforms that we provide our specialised repairs for.”

With  major commercial airline operators purchasing more than 3,500 new aero-engines per year, and the global airline fleet growing at close to 5% p.a. over the long-term, shop visit rate volumes are increasing. The aftermarket needs of carriers are increasing as well.

MB Aerospace is accredited with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and Civil
Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certificates . The business supports OEMs, MROs and other parts repair facilities with industry leading turn-around times on a broad inventory of aero-engines and aero-derivative industrial gas turbines.
