MBDA Highlights Extensive Product Range

Our Bureau - : Jan 20, 2026 - : 11:12 pm

MBDA, which has a longstanding relationship with Qatar, is showcasing complementary defence systems across maritime, air and land domains at the ongoing show.

The air defence solutions being presented at the event include laser (DragonFire and CILAS HELMA-P) and the SKY WARDEN solution, which gather different type of sensors to detect, recognize, classify, and identify the threats and effectors to neutralize them.

MBDA is developing the DragonFire laser system in partnership with QinetiQ and Leonardo UK, In November last year, MBDA UK was awarded a £316 million contract to deliver new DragonFire systems to the Royal Navy from 2027. The laser system, which will be fitted to a Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer by 2027, addresses the threat of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and is accurate enough to hit a £1 coin from a kilometre away. MBDA has a stake in CILAS, a French laser technology company that is developing HELMA-P.

The company is highlighting the capabilities of the ONE WAY EFFECTOR, a sovereign long-range solution to saturate enemies’ defences. According to the company, the new solution is the perfect compromise between the need for mass and performance at a lower cost, thus addressing the needs of the armed forces in a high-intensity context.

The AKERON family, addressing both present and future operational requirements for dismounted combat, as well as land, air (including helicopters and UAVs), and naval platforms are being showcased at the company’s booth. Diamond-shaped loitering munitions, adding AI-based technology, complete the range of solutions that the company believes is an ideal fit for Qatar’s military needs.

The company, which is the gold sponsor of the event, remains committed to strategic partnerships  with the Qatar defence  industry, reinforcing its commitment to the country’s defence and security needs.
