The Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference (MESOC), on the opening day of SOFEX 2022, focused on discussing the rapid advances in the defence and aerospace industry.
MESOC was attended by senior officers of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and military representatives from several countries in the region and beyond, as well as officials and decision-makers from around the world.
The one-day conference, hosted by the JAF, was the official opening event of the 13th edition of Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX). Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, and a number of senior officers of JAF attended.
The sessions at the conference focused on unifying counterterrorism concepts and exchanging tactical know-how, in accordance with international security strategies and expanding cooperation within the global special operations community.
Brigadier General, Ayman Ahmad Al-Batran, CEO of the Jordan Design and Development Bureau, lauded SOFEX in his remarks. SOFEX “provides a platform for decision-makers, and military leaders and officials to exchange practical and theoretical expertise to transform opportunities into real partnerships to neutralize future threats,” Petra quoted him as saying.
Founded in 1996 by His Majesty King Abdullah, SOFEX-22 is the 13th iteration of this exhibition, and has been a biennial event since its conception. More than 300 international firms, including 28 US companies, are taking part in the ongoing edition.
Deputy CEO of SOFEX Ahmed Al Taweel said choosing Aqaba to host SOFEX 2022 was intended to generate an investment environment welcoming new trends, increasing defence industry ventures and stimulating tourism by attracting some 3,000 foreign visitors and 5,000 locals to the exhibition.
