South African defence firm Milkor has unveiled its Ripper 1200 Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) at the show. A model of the Ripper 1200 RIB is on display. Speaking to GBP Daily News, a company official said the Ripper 1200 is part of the Ripper series of multi-mission patrol craft optimized for coastal, harbor, and riverine operations. Designed for speed, stability, and adaptability, the Ripper line showcases MILKOR’s commitment to versatile, high-performance maritime platforms suitable for defence, law enforcement, and special operations roles.
The Ripper 1200 is suitable for special operations missions and anti-piracy roles. It extends MILKOR’s capability into medium-endurance missions, configured as a troop carrier or patrol vessel. Measuring 12 meters with a beam of 3.65 meters, it can accommodate up to 14 crew members and features up to three 350 hp outboard engines. Its shallow 0.5-meter draught ensures effective operations in littoral and riverine environments, making it suitable for troop transport, coastal patrol, and interdiction roles.
The MILKOR Ripper range is built around composite construction, combining strength and light weight to deliver high-speed maneuverability while reducing maintenance demands. Configurations are available in open-top, T-top, full-cabin, and troop-carrier variants, with sizes ranging from 6 meters to 15 meters in overall length.
Ripper 600 – Compact Patrol and Inspection Craft
The Ripper 600 is a 6-meter fast patrol craft designed for crews of up to three, ideal for harbour security, surveillance, and inspection tasks. Its compact hull and 0.37-meter draught allow operations in confined and shallow environments. Powered by a 125 hp outboard engine, the vessel can reach 45 knots, offering agility and rapid deployment capability.
Ripper 900 – Lightweight Coastal Patrol Boat
At 9 meters, the Ripper 900 provides a balance of speed and capacity, accommodating up to eight crew members. With a beam of 2.96 meters and draught of just 0.41 meters, the craft is designed for coastal and harbor patrols. Equipped with twin 350 hp outboard motors, it achieves speeds of 55 knots, delivering excellent performance in compact form.
Ripper 1500 – Long-Range Patrol and Interception Vessel
The flagship Ripper 1500 is a 15-meter high-capacity RIB designed for extended coastal and offshore patrols. With a beam of 4.45 meters and 10-tonne lightship displacement, it can be powered by up to four outboard motors or twin 440 hp inboard diesels, achieving speeds exceeding 55 knots. The vessel supports multiple configurations — open, T-top, or full-cabin — and includes shock-mitigating seating and enhanced fuel capacity for long-range endurance.
Built for stability, safety, and mission flexibility, the Ripper 1500 offers a capable platform for interdiction, special forces deployment, and coastal defence missions.
A Modular Fleet for Modern Maritime Security
MILKOR’s Ripper RIB family embodies a modular design philosophy, allowing operators to tailor configurations and propulsion options based on mission requirements. The range’s versatility and shallow-water capability make it ideal for coastal patrol, riverine operations, anti-smuggling, and search-and-rescue tasks.
With the Ripper series, MILKOR strengthens its position as a comprehensive defence solutions provider, extending its expertise from air and land platforms into the maritime domain.
