Naval Group has entered into a three-year maintenance agreement with the UAE Navy and Tawazun Council for the continued support of the Bani Yas and Al Emarat Gowind corvettes.
The contract builds on Naval Group’s ongoing partnership with the UAE Navy, following the construction of the two Gowind corvettes at the company’s shipyard in Lorient, France. The first vessel was delivered in October 2023, with the second scheduled for delivery in June 2024.
Under the terms of the In-Service Support contract, Naval Group will oversee technical maintenance and ensure the ships remain at optimal operational levels. This will involve several technical stops over the next three years, conducted at the UAE Navy Base.
Key aspects of the support provided by Naval Group include training for base maintainers, on-site technical assistance from Naval Group experts, provision of spare parts for the corvettes during technical stops, and engagement with a local shipyard.
Additionally, Naval Group is working with UAE authorities to expand its support footprint in the region, focusing on increasing digitalisation in maintenance operations.
