Abu Dhabi based Calidus, a defence technology development and manufacturing company has unveiled its new WAHASH 8X8 platform.
The new platform can be used as a base for an Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) or for other applications, say company officials.
The new vehicle platform features a unique protected driver cabin and the modular protection system being offered, allows for different levels of ballistic protection, depending on mission configuration.
The monocoque hull does not require a subframe and the vehicle features a modern, digital Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA). Large calibre weapon systems such as the BMP-3 turret or different types of remote-controlled weapons stations (RWCS) can be fitted.
The WAHAS 8X8 is powered by a Scania DC 13 engine, which puts out 540 kW that powers the vehicle to a top speed of 130 kmph. Payload is 10.8 tonne and total combat weight with 11 soldiers and crew is 32.1 tonne. The range is quoted as 700 km.
