NHIndustries has completed the final delivery of the final NH90 Maritime – Italian Navy Tactical Transport (MITT) helicopter.
The helicopter designated ‘MH-90’ by its operator is the last of ten MH-90s, which the Italian Navy will use for amphibious support and Special Forces’ operations.
With this NHIndustries has completed deliveries of all NH90 MITT Tactical Transport Helicopters to the Italian Navy.
The final helicopter was delivered in line with the contractual schedule and customer expectations, on August 26th. The first MH-90 helicopter was delivered to the Italian Navy in February 2017. The Italian Navy ordered a total of 56 NH90s – 46 NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) variants and 10 MH-90s.
The helicopter was manufactured at Leonardo’s Venice-Tessera plant and was assembled, flight tested, and delivered on schedule to the Italian Navy’s Main Operating Base in Luni.
The MH-90 combines the main features of the type for land tactical transport duties, such as the rear ramp and mission equipment, together with the features of the naval NH90 such as optimised landing gear and dynamics for ship operations.
The MITT variant adds to the NH90 Nato Frigate Helicopter (NFH) in service by the Italian Navy for other specialised tasks and 38 NFH’s have been delivered till date.
The Italian Navy took delivery of its first NH90 NFH helicopter in Full Operational Capability (or Step B) configuration in November 2013.
