NORINCO Hard Sells SR5 MRL

: May 24, 2018 - : 1:47 am

China North Industries Company (NORINCO) is showcasing its SR5 Universal Artillery Rocket Launcher (UARL) along with the Fire Dragon 40 rocket at the ongoing KADEX 2018.

Based on a 6×6 heavy truck chassis, the SR5 features a two-pod capability, that can fire either 122 mm (20 per pod) or 220 mm (six per pod) rockets. It is a universal launching platform adopting such technologies as canister launching, automatic loading and common-frame rocket launching. For greater tactical flexibility, the vehicle can mount one of each pod, thus significantly widening local commanders’ options for fire support.

The system also has the capability to fire guided rockets – the Fire Dragon 40 122mm rocket has both INS and GPS systems, contributing to a circular error probability (CEP) of under 25m at ranges from 20-40km; the King Dragon 60 220mm rocket uses laser terminal guidance at ranges from 20-70km and the company claims a CEP of 3m. According to the current information, the SR-5 is in service with Algeria, Bahrain, Venezuela and possibly some other countries.
