Nurol Makina Localises Armoured Vehicle Production at DSA 2026
Turkish defence giant Nurol Makina has formalised a strategic partnership with Malaysia-based Nadicorp Holdings Sdn. Bhd. to establish a local manufacturing hub for tactical wheeled armoured vehicles. The agreement was signed during the 19th edition of Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2026, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur from 20 to 23 April 2026. This collaboration aims to transform Malaysia into a regional production base, facilitating the export of advanced 4x4 platforms to emerging markets across the Asia-Pacific.
The partnership is anchored by a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that expands the long-standing cooperation between Nurol Makina and Badanbas, a subsidiary of Nadicorp Holdings. Under this framework, the companies will focus on the indigenous production of combat-proven platforms, leveraging Nurol Makina's engineering expertise and Nadicorp’s local manufacturing infrastructure. This initiative aligns with Malaysia’s national defence industrial goals to enhance self-reliance and develop high-technology manufacturing capabilities within the domestic supply chain.
According to official press bulletins and corporate announcements released at the exhibition, the deal marks a significant milestone in the bilateral defence relationship between Türkiye and Malaysia. Nurol Makina is currently showcasing its signature vehicle line-up at Stand Hall 2, No: 2100C, including the Ejder Yalçın and the NMS 4x4. These platforms have been selected for their high mobility and scalable armour technology, which are essential for meeting the diverse operational requirements of Southeast Asian security forces.
The move reflects a broader strategic shift in the Asia-Pacific region as nations increasingly seek to balance military modernisation with economic offsets. By localising production, Nurol Makina provides an alternative to direct procurement, offering regional partners greater control over maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) cycles. This mission-oriented design approach allows for the integration of various weapon systems and sensors tailored to specific jungle or urban environments found throughout the ASEAN territory.
Industry analysts suggest that the establishment of a Malaysian production line could disrupt traditional procurement patterns dominated by Western and Russian suppliers. The scalable ballistic protection of the NMS-L and Ejder Yalçın provides a versatile solution for counter-insurgency and border security roles. As geopolitical tensions in the South China Sea persist, regional powers are prioritising the acquisition of mission-adaptable land systems that can be rapidly deployed and sustained through local industrial support.
