Pakistan has signed a contract with Turkish Aerospace Industries to buy 30 units T129 ATAK Helicopters. The deal includes a comprehensive package including logistics, ammunition, spares, ground support equipment and training.

Contract negotiations on T129 ATAK helicopters between Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and the Pakistani Ministry of Defense Production were finalized,” the under-secretariat said in a statement on the eve of Farnborough International Airshow 2018.

The under-secretariat did not say how much the deal was worth. But Turkish media reports put the value at around US$1.5 billion.

The “T129 ATAK” Multirole Combat Helicopter, which sets new standards in the global market, optimized for the specific harsh geographical conditions, is a new generation, tandem seat, twin engine helicopter, specifically designed for attack and reconnaissance purposes with the best “performance and maneuver capability” in its class, says a TAI official on the sidelines of the Farnborough International Airshow.

T129 ATAK, has unique survivability features, new generation engine, state of art avionics and asymmetric weapon delivery capability, which provides highly mobile and lethal attack capability against personnel, ground and air targets.

T129 ATAK Helicopter has been tested by Pakistan Army in Turkey and Pakistan environmental and geographical conditions.

This is the biggest single export in the history of the Turkish defense industry.
