Philippine Army to Receive Four Vehicle Mounted Mine Detectors

Yulian Ardiansyah - : Jul 13, 2021 - : 11:24 am

As part of the Combat Engineering Equipment Acquisition Project of the Philippine Army (PA), four mine detection and clearing vehicles manufactured by UK-based Armtrac will be delivered to the PA starting this year until 2022.

In a contract worth around Php110.4 million (US$2.15 million) that was signed between the Philippines Department of National Defense and UK Minister of Defence in April this year, the PA will receive four Armtrac 100-350 Mk.2 multi-purpose Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) and demining vehicles and their accessories.

Termed locally by the PA as Vehicle Mounted Mine Detectors (VMMD), the Armtrac 100-350 Mk.2 is developed from the JCB Fastrac 8000 commercial tractor. With a cabin and critical components protected by a STANAG 4569 Level 1 armor, together with the availability of various mine detection and clearing kits for it, the Armtrac 100-350 Mk.2 can be deployed as a route proving and clearance vehicle as well as a bomb search & detection vehicle. It can also be used as conventional general purpose tractors whenever required.

Armtrac is a privately owned company based in Cambridgeshire, Eastern England. The company specializes in manufacturing explosive ordnance disposal vehicles – both manned and unmanned – and their related equipment and accessories. Established in 1990, the company’s products have been exported to Colombia, Egypt, France, Saudi Arabia, the United States and other countries.
