The People’s Liberation Army Navy’s (PLAN) Jiangkai II-Class Frigate (Yulin) and Wozang-Class Minesweeper (Chibi) are one of the highlights of the ongoing IMDEX.
Both PLAN vessels are part of the Warship Display however, access to both ships was not provided to the visiting media.
The two naval vessels are participating in the exhibition after completing Exercise Maritime Cooperation 2023 with the Republic of Singapore Navy from 28 April to May 1.
This year's Exercise Maritime Cooperation was the second in the series since its inauguration in 2015.
The exercise comprised of a shore phase in RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base (CNB), and a sea phase in the southern reaches of the South China Sea within international waters.
The exercise involved the RSN's Formidable-class frigate RSS Intrepid and Bedok-class Mine Countermeasure Vessel RSS Punggol.
Over the course of the exercises, both navies undertook drills on simulated minefield transits, replenishment-at-sea approaches, gunnery firing, joint search and rescue and medical evacuation, among other subjects.
