Pratt & Whitney continues to grow the global network of MRO facilities that service its GTF engines, with the addition of new facilities, more capacity and added capabilities. The engine maker’s GTF MRO network expanded to nine facilities in the first half of this year.
The expanding GTF MRO network is comprised of the industry’s leading MRO companies, including Pratt & Whitney, MTU Aero Engines, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation(JAEC), Lufthansa Technik (LHT) and Delta TechOps.
“Through the first half of the year we saw the GTF MRO network reach significant milestones, all of which help us better serve our customers,” said Joe Sylvestro, vice president, Aftermarket Operations, Pratt & Whitney.
“We’re continuing to invest in our facilities to deliver engines faster, and with the highest quality, to make sure our airline customers are ready to fly as demand returns.
The new GTF MRO facilities included Delta TechOps in the United States and EME Aero in Poland.
Air India Engineering Services Limited (AIESL) will now provide maintenance services in support of GTF operators in India and the surrounding region.
Pratt & Whitney’s North Berwick facility will also expand to provide maintenance for high pressure turbine and high pressure compressor modules.
“Today, the growing GTF network spans three continents, ensuring world-class service for every GTF customer, regardless of their location,” said Dave Emmerling, vice president, Commercial Aftermarket at Pratt & Whitney. “We are committed to securing additional capacity as the GTF fleet continues to grow across the globe.”
Pratt & Whitney has also developed “quick-turn” shop visit capability to incorporate product upgrades into the PW1100G-JM engine at sites across the network.
Pratt & Whitney’s Eagle Services Asia facility in Singapore recently completed its 100th quick-turn shop visit.
These upgrades are improving the reliability and durability of the engine, which now has a dispatch reliability of 99.97%.
