PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI), Indonesia’s state-owned aerospace company, and Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Bhd (BHIC), one of Malaysia’s leading defence contractors, entered into a Framework Agreement (FA) at the ongoing LIMA to establish strategic collaboration in aerospace and defense industrial cooperation.
The agreement was formalized by Gita Amperiawan, PTDI President Director, and Feroz Razi Ramli, BHIC Chief Executive Officer. Also present was Malaysia’s Defence Minister, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
“As Indonesia’s national aerospace company, PTDI’s participation at LIMA 2025 is not only about showcasing our products and services, but also reflects our commitment to building strategic partnerships in the region,” said Gita Amperiawan, President Director of PTDI. “This partnership with BHIC marks an important step toward stronger aerospace and defense synergy between Indonesia and Malaysia. We see this as a foundation for long-term collaboration that will reinforce both companies’ strategic positioning in supporting regional defense capability and stability.”
PTDI stated that the agreement focuses on expanding the airframer’s aircraft production capabilities to meet increasing market demand. It also aims to enhance aerostructure supply chain localization in compliance with regulations set by the relevant Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). In addition, the cooperation includes leasing arrangements for PTDI-manufactured aircraft and joint development of Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) services to strengthen after-sales support across Southeast Asia.
As part of the broader collaboration effort, BHIC also signed a separate Framework Agreement (FA) with PTDI’s U.S.-based subsidiary, IPTN North America, Inc. (INA, Inc.). The agreement outlines cooperation in the supply of material, tools, and parts to support PTDI’s aircraft programs as well as non-PTDI programs created by INA, Inc. It also covers joint sales and marketing initiatives for aerostructure components. The partnership between BHIC and INA, Inc. is expected to strengthen aerospace supply chain ecosystem and unlock broader opportunities for regional and global cooperation in the manufacturing and commercialization of aerostructure products.
